Pivotal to design is its ability to adapt and evolve, whether to keep up with the times – or get ahead of them. Covid-19 will change the world in a very visual way. The architecture of the modern workspace needs to factor in social distancing, such as the reshuffling of desks, insertion of barriers and annexation of privatised spaces for video conferencing, which will surely increase as travel is reduced. The challenge will come with moulding these changes naturally so they blend into the environment. Inhabitants need to be spread out, yet near enough to collaborate, comfortable, but safe. A smart design will render these changes as the natural next step, as the world transitions into the post covid era.
